Zowel in de series kwalificatie ronden als in beide finales heeft Nicole, in overleg met haar coach-trainer Frans Thuijs (voormalig coach van Ellen van Langen, Olympisch kampioene 800m 1992) haar eigen plan getrokken en is zij in al haar races steeds hard van start gegaan. Met mooie versnellingen wist zij haar tegenstanders uit te putten en dan zelf door te gaan. Langzaam weglopen van haar concurrenten en dan steeds met afstand van de andere atleten als eerste over de finish komen. In een bomvol stadion liet zij keer op keer aan het enthousiaste publiek duidelijk zien wie hier de sterkste was. Op zowel de 800m als de 1.500m is Nicole Weijling-Dissel nu Wereldkampioen. Als afsluiting van haar kampioenschap heeft Nicole op de laatste dag ook nog deel uitgemaakt van het Nederlandse estafette team 4x 400m in de categorie 40+. Als laatste snelle loopster liep zij ook hier weer een sterke 400m waarmee zij als team een mooi resultaat behaalde van een 5e plaats. Het weekend voordat Nicole naar Lyon vertrok heeft zij ook deelgenomen aan het NK senioren atletiek gehouden in het Olympisch stadion. In de finale op de 1.500m wist Nicole daar achter een sterk veld (waaronder Mareen Koster, Olympisch en WK atlete) als 6e dame te finishen.
